2027: Umahi Urges South East to Back Tinubu for National Integration

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged the people of the South East to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing Tinubu’s efforts to integrate the region into national development through key appointments and infrastructure projects.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday after celebrating Sallah with the Muslim community, Umahi emphasized that President Tinubu has made deliberate efforts to include the South East in national progress.

“President Tinubu has resolved the herdsmen-farmers conflict and launched several federal projects in the South East clear signs of national integration,” he said.

Umahi pointed out that before Tinubu’s administration, Ebonyi State had no federal projects. “Now, you can see federal projects across the entire South East,” he added.

He highlighted several key appointments of Igbo individuals, including himself as Minister of Works, the Chief of Naval Staff, and the Minister of Science and Technology. “Is that not integration?” Umahi asked rhetorically.

Calling for reciprocal political support, Umahi noted that other regions have long enjoyed national integration and urged the South East to align with Tinubu’s inclusive agenda. “Let’s support this President who has included us,” he appealed.

Umahi also credited Tinubu with addressing security challenges in the region. “When I was governor, herdsmen posed a major threat. Today, those issues have drastically reduced, thanks to the President’s actions,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for entrusting him with oversight of massive infrastructure projects worth over ₦1 trillion. “This shows the President has confidence in me. Contractors must now stay alert I aim to commission at least 30 major projects by December 20,” he revealed.

Umahi pledged to personally supervise 90% of all federal projects under his ministry. “I know thesej projects inside out. I can list their locations, stages, and contractors even in my sleep. It hasn’t been easy, but God gives me strength,” he added
