In a swift and coordinated operation, security operatives in Kogi State successfully rescued 21 kidnap victims just 48 hours after their abduction along the Ajaokuta – Itobe road on Thursday.

Governor Yahaya Bello commended the efforts of the security operatives and reiterated the state’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for criminal activities. The rescue operation involved a joint team of security forces, including the Nigeria Police, the Nigerian Civil Defence and Security Corps, and local vigilantes, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria.

The victims, predominantly travelers, had been forcefully taken to an undisclosed location within the dense forest around the Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State. Promptly responding to the distressing incident, Governor Bello issued directives to the security agencies and local vigilantes to take immediate action to free the captives and apprehend the perpetrators.

A statement from the governor’s media aide, Onogwu Muhammed, highlighted the governor’s unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of citizens and residents under his jurisdiction.
