Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar, the newly appointed Chief of Air Staff, has given his approval for the redeployment of 98 senior officers within the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). This decision aims to optimize the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the service.
The redeployed officers include Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, Commandants of Tri-Service Establishments, and NAF institutions. They are expected to assume their new roles on Monday, July 3, 2023.
Air Commodore Ayodele Famuyiwa, the spokesperson for the NAF, released a statement providing details of the senior officers’ reappointments. Among the notable appointments are Air Vice Marshal Abraham Adole, who previously served as the Commandant of the Air Force War College and is now the Chief of Defence Policy and Plans at the Defence Headquarters. Additionally, Air Vice Marshal Nkem Aguiyi has been appointed as the Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation at the DHQ, and Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Shinkafi takes on the role of Chief of Defence Space Administration.
At the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Sayo Olatunde, the former Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, assumes the position of Chief of Policy and Plans. Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola continues as the Chief of Communications Information Systems, and Air Vice Marshal Pius Oahimire becomes the Chief of Aircraft Engineering. Air Vice Marshal Uchechi Nwagwu has been appointed as the Chief of Accounts and Budget.
Other notable appointments include Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdulkadir, formerly the AOC of the Special Operations Command in Bauchi, who now serves as the Chief of Training and Operations. Air Vice Marshal Dominic Danat assumes the role of Chief of Logistics, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Bakari becomes Air Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Michael Onyebashi takes on the position of Chief of Standards and Evaluation, and Air Vice Marshal Idi Sani is appointed as the Chief of Administration. Air Vice Marshal Anthony Ekpe retains his appointment as the Chief of Medical Services, and Air Commodore Friday Ogohi assumes the role of Chief of Air Intelligence.
Commandant appointments include Air Vice Marshal Adeniyi Amesinlola, who heads the Armed Forces Resettlement Centre in Oshodi, and Air Vice Marshal Hassan Alhaji, who takes charge of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji. Air Vice Marshal Sani Rabe leads the Air Force Institute of Technology in Kaduna, Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Kehinde commands the Air Force War College in Makurdi, and Air Vice Marshal Esen Efanga becomes the Commandant of the Air Warfare Centre in Abuja.
The redeployment also affects various Air Officers Commanding, including Air Vice Marshal Francis Edosa in Tactical Air Command, Makurdi; Air Vice Marshal Tajudeen Yusuf in Mobility Command, Yenagoa; Air Vice Marshal Eneobong Effiom in SOC, Bauchi; Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Ananaba in Air Training Command, Kaduna; Air Vice Marshal Usman Abdullahi in GTC, Enugu; and Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdullahi in Logistics Command.
Additionally, Air Vice Marshal Kabir Umar has been appointed as the Group Managing Director of NAF Investments Limited Group of Companies, Air Vice Marshal Sunday Aneke becomes the Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna, and Air Vice Marshal Titus Dauda serves as the College Secretary of the National Defence College in Abuja. Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet has been reappointed as the Director of Public Relations and Information.
