“Aiyedatiwa Accused by PDP of Abandoning Akeredolu’s Projects and Victimizing Ex-boss’ Aides: A Case of Political Vendetta?”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of abandoning projects initiated by his predecessor and former Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. The opposition party described the government as a continuum, emphasizing that Aiyedatiwa, who served as Akeredolu’s deputy, should prioritize the completion of these projects.

According to the PDP’s Director of Media and Publicity, Leye Igbabo, the abandoned projects include the Ijoka Road construction project, Alagbaka Extension Road project, and Onyearugbulem Junction Flyover bridges, among others. Igbabo stressed that nothing should have delayed the completion of these projects, given the resources available to the current administration.

The party also described as illogical the decision of Aiyedatiwa to not complete the road project on his street at Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital. The PDP emphasized that the governor’s decision could be a result of his displeasure with those handling the project within Akeredolu’s camp.

Furthermore, the PDP urged the governor to exhibit large-heartedness, like the biblical David, who overlooked the actions of his brothers against him, especially considering the circumstances that brought him to power.

However, the available facts suggest that Aiyedatiwa is not ready to go on with the projects because of his clear intention to destroy his predecessor’s legacy on the altar of political vendetta against the late governor and his camp.

Igbabo stated, “We can feel this level of animosity towards his predecessor’s camp such that the governor even refused to complete the ongoing 3 km Alagbaka Extension road project in front of his own house.” The PDP views such a stance as puerile, immature, and ungrateful, cautioning the Governor to exercise restraint in the use of naked powers, as absolute powers belong to God.

The accusation against Aiyedatiwa raises questions about his intentions for the state and the future of the projects initiated by his predecessor. The people of Ondo State will be watching closely to see if the governor will prioritize the completion of these projects or continue down the path of political vendetta.
