Senate President Godswill Akpabio revealed details on Friday about the aftermath of his birthday colloquium held on Thursday. Celebrating the second part of his 61st birthday in Abuja, attended by President Bola Tinubu, the event occurred five days after the first celebration at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.

Reports indicated that Akpabio slumped in his chair at the hotel venue after the event. Speaking to journalists in his office on Friday, Akpabio clarified that his condition was stress-induced, compounded by a bout of malaria.

He stated, “What eventually happened after the event was a show of humanity. I went home and I called my doctors, and I was assured that I have malaria, mingled with stress, which could also be described in another way as exhaustion.”

Akpabio emphasized the universal susceptibility to exhaustion and advised people to stay hydrated. Despite the incident, he conveyed that he remains undeterred, assuring Nigerians that the National Assembly is functioning seamlessly and will resume its duties on December 20. Akpabio highlighted the commitment to meet the deadline for passing the budget before the end of the year, allowing the president to sign it into law.
