Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has extended an optimistic message to her fellow Nigerians, urging them to envision a future beyond the current challenges the country faces. She emphasized the presence of a promising horizon that lies ahead.
This sentiment was expressed as she welcomed a delegation of Wives of Service Chiefs and the Inspector General of Police, led by Mrs. Oghogho Musa, the spouse of the Chief of Defence Staff and the President of the Defence and Police Wives Association.
First Lady Tinubu affirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is actively committed to mitigating the impacts of the fuel subsidy removal. She highlighted the role of her pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), in supporting government efforts in this regard. She also sought the backing of the wives of the Service Chiefs to reach out to women in their respective barracks, instilling patience and the belief that positive outcomes will emerge from the current challenges.
“We seek your support through your respective Associations to continually reassure women that we have the best interests of this country at heart. We urge them to remain patient, as we work to alleviate the impact of the subsidy’s removal. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel,” she affirmed.
She further emphasized the aspiration for an enhanced and thriving Nigeria, a legacy that will resonate with future generations. The First Lady pledged that the RHI would soon extend its support to vulnerable widows of fallen military officers.
Earlier in the meeting, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, leading the delegation, expressed the commitment of various Associations under Defence and Police Officers Wives to collaborate with the Renewed Hope Initiative. The collaboration spans areas such as Agriculture, Education, Health, Economic Empowerment, and Social Investment, all of which align with the associations’ shared interests.
As part of the proceedings, the First Lady was honored as the Grand Matron of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association, a designation in line with the associations’ constitutional provisions.
