Following a meeting held on Monday in Abuja, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a document outlining a zoning template for the principal officer positions in the upcoming 10th National Assembly. This is according to Vanguard Newspaper.
According to the document, the Senate President position has been zoned to the South South region, with Senator Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state being the proposed candidate.
Other positions include the Deputy Senate President position, which has been zoned to the North West region with Senator Barau Jubrin of Kano state as the proposed candidate.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives position has also been zoned to the North West region, with Hon. Abass Tajudeen of Kaduna state as the proposed candidate, while the Deputy Speaker position has been zoned to the South East region with Hon. Ben Kalu of Abia state as the proposed candidate.
This move is expected to promote equity and inclusivity within the party, and ensure effective representation across all regions of the country.
