The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the validly elected candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial Election held in February.

The court rejected the appeal filed by Abubakar Ohere, deeming it lacking in merit.

In September, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal in Lokoja had nullified the victory of Abubakar Ohere, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election.

The tribunal ruled in favor of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and declared her the rightful winner of the February senatorial poll.

Despite Abubakar Ohere’s pursuit of legal recourse at the appellate court, the court has once again affirmed Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the legitimate winner of the election
