During a reception and send forth ceremony for the PDP Governors Forum in Abuja on Thursday, the former DG Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and keynote speaker, Muda Yusuf, advised the new PDP governor-elect to avoid rewarding their appointees with unqualified appointments as a means of repaying their campaign contributions.
Yusuf stressed the importance of maintaining the integrity of politicians and exceeding the expectations of citizens who voted for them.
He also emphasized transparency, independence, and the principle of inclusion in sub-governance as essential factors for economic and social growth.
The PDP National Acting Chairman, Umar Damagum, called on the judiciary to resist the influence of politicians during tribunal sittings, and urged party faithfuls to remain committed, assuring them that the party leadership is determined to reclaim its alleged stolen mandate.
The outgoing chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, promised the new governors-elect the party’s support, noting that the forum’s goal is to bring out the best in the state and the country.
Former Vice President and presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, called on the party leadership to conduct careful investigations into why and how the party can overcome its current challenges, expressing hope that the party will regain its alleged stolen mandate.
The event attracted current and former governors, as well as former and serving members of the National Assembly. The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of a plaque to the governor-elect.
