During the inaugural meeting of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation and Aerospace Technology in Abuja, Chairman Hon. Abiodun Akinlade announced the committee’s commitment to delve into the controversy surrounding the Nigeria Air Project and provide the public with informed updates.

The Committee, in addition to addressing the Nigeria Air Project concerns, expressed its dedication to tackling issues related to air crashes and safety irregularities within the country’s airports. Chairman Akinlade emphasized that the committee would actively engage with stakeholders to deliver the democratic dividends of a highly innovative and productive aviation industry to Nigerians.

As various House Committees proceed with the ongoing budget defense, Chairman Akinlade assured that the Aviation and Aerospace Technology Committee would approach the process with a keen sense of responsibility.

In a parallel development, the House Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters outlined its focus on sectors under its mandate, including agriculture, cultural festivals, resettlement schemes, and satellite town development concerning FCT indigenes and residents. Chairman Fred Agedi affirmed the committee’s commitment to meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people.

Minister of State for FCT, in her remarks, acknowledged the crucial role the committee would play in addressing diverse issues within the FCT.

In a related context, Joshua Obika, the representative for AMAC, Bwari Federal Constituency, appealed to President Tinubu for the establishment of a Special Security Intervention Fund for a comprehensive overhaul of FCT’s security architecture. During a press briefing in Abuja, Obika suggested enhancing intelligence gathering, periodic raids of surrounding bushes, and proper evacuation or policing of uncompleted buildings.

The lawmaker also highlighted other areas requiring urgent intervention in the FCT, such as education sector reform, health, urban transportation, rural infrastructure, housing, and the environment.
