Bala Mohammed: PDP Governors Accuse Federal Govt of Intimidation, Exclusion; Vow Resistance at 99th NEC Meeting
Abuja, Nigeria – [Insert Date] – Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have leveled strong accusations against the Federal Government, alleging the use of intimidation and exclusion tactics. Speaking during the party’s 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, the governors vowed to resist such measures and remain steadfast in their commitment to good governance.
The Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, addressed the gathering, highlighting the significant challenges currently confronting the main opposition party and its members nationwide.
Governor Mohammed stated that the prevailing political climate, orchestrated by the current administration, has created a “unique set of circumstances” characterized by obstacles, subtle provocations, and significant shifts in political dynamics.
He openly acknowledged that the PDP has faced “a wave of defections and coalition talks,” which have even impacted some individuals within its ranks. Despite these pressures and movements, he emphasized the party’s core leadership and members remain “united and resolute” in pursuing their mandate.
“Despite these pressures, our members remain steadfast and unwavering,” Mohammed declared. “There is no form of intimidation or persuasion that we, as elected governors and members, have not encountered. Yet, we remain resolute in our commitment.”
Further differentiating the PDP from the political competition, Governor Mohammed asserted that the party’s unity stands in contrast to what he described as fragmentation and division within other political entities.
“Other parties have been fragmented, with factions emerging here and there. But it is undeniable that we stand together as one,” he concluded.
The accusation comes amidst ongoing political realignments and heightened tensions between the ruling party and the opposition ahead of future elections. The PDP Governors’ defiance underscores their determination to maintain their influence and pursue their political agenda despite perceived pressure from the central government.
