In a heartfelt message commemorating the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day 2024, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Chris Gwabin Musa, lauded the unwavering commitment and heroism exhibited by officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces in various military operations.
In a personally signed goodwill message, Gen. Musa emphasized that this period serves as a poignant time to reflect on the sacrifices, bravery, and dedication of fallen heroes who laid down their lives in defense of the nation’s territorial integrity.
“We remember and pay our collective tribute to them for their sacrifices not just today, but every day as they gave ‘their today’ for ‘our tomorrow,'” expressed the Chief of Defence Staff.
Addressing the gallant officers and men, both serving and retired, Gen. Musa acknowledged their immeasurable contributions to the nation’s freedom and security. He highlighted their selfless dedication to service as the foundation for the relative peace enjoyed today.
Assuring continued support, the Chief of Defence Staff pledged to uphold values such as respect for the rule of law, professionalism, loyalty to constituted authority, discipline, selfless service, and courage.
Expressing gratitude to those who have suffered injuries, Gen. Musa conveyed appreciation and assured them of continued prayers for swift recovery. For those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, he expressed deep thanks and reassured that their efforts and steadfast devotion in defense of democracy and national unity will never be in vain.
Gen. Musa charged the troops to remain resolute in defeating all forms of security threats, emphasizing the importance of ensuring enduring peace and security throughout the country.
Promising to prioritize welfare, the Chief of Defence Staff outlined his leadership philosophy as “To Nurture a Professional Armed Forces of Nigeria that is People Centric, Capable of Meeting its Constitutional Responsibilities in a Joint and Collaborative Environment.”
Gen. Musa expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent and timely support to the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He assured the President of unwavering loyalty and commitment in defending the nation’s democratic values while maintaining peace and cohesion.
