China Warns US Against Imposing its Will on the World, Asserting Multilateralism
Beijing – China issued a strong rebuke to the United States today, declaring that Washington cannot expect to impose its will on the global community and must respect the sovereignty and choices of other nations.
“China firmly opposes the United States’ hegemonic practices and unilateral actions,” the spokesperson stated, adding, “The world is diverse, and each country has the right to choose its own path of development based on its national conditions.
It is unacceptable for any single nation to dictate to others or to believe it can impose its will on the entire world.”
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Beijing and Washington on a range of issues including trade, technology, human rights, and geopolitical influence. China has consistently accused the US of employing unilateral sanctions, interference in internal affairs, and forming exclusive blocs to contain its rise.
The Chinese spokesperson emphasized the importance of multilateralism and international cooperation, advocating for a world order based on the principles of the United Nations Charter.
They reportedly said, stressing that global issues should be resolved through dialogue and consultation among all stakeholders, rather than through unilateral actions driven by one nation’s interests.
While the specific trigger for today’s statement was not explicitly stated, it is widely understood to be a continuation of China’s long-standing criticism of US foreign policy.
Observers note that this statement could be in response to recent US actions or rhetoric perceived as attempting to pressure other countries into aligning with Washington’s agenda, particularly in areas such as, technology restrictions, stance on the Ukraine conflict, or alliances in the Indo-Pacific.
The Chinese message resonates with a growing sentiment among some nations, particularly in the developing world, who are wary of being caught in the crossfire of escalating US-China competition.
Beijing has increasingly positioned itself as a champion of multilateralism and a counterweight to perceived US unilateralism, attracting support from countries seeking a more balanced and multipolar world order.
The US State Department is expected to respond to China’s statement in due course. Washington has consistently defended its foreign policy as being in the interest of global peace and stability, arguing that it is responding to genuine threats and promoting universal values.
This latest exchange underscores the deep-seated disagreements and mistrust that characterize the US-China relationship.
As both countries vie for global influence, the international community will be closely watching to see how this power dynamic unfolds and whether cooperation or confrontation will ultimately define their interactions on the world stage.
