The Coalition of Peace In Nigeria (COPIN) has issued a stern warning to a faceless Northern group threatening to lead protests against the esteemed Director-General of State Services (DG SS), Alh. YM Bichi (fwc, CFR). COPIN vows to mobilize well-meaning Nigerians who are informed about the true state of affairs in the country for a counter-protest, should the Northern group persist with its ill-motivated and subversive actions.

In a statement jointly signed by it National Coordinator Pharm. Emeka Akwuobi and Hajiya Fatih Yakub (National Secretary)said

As a patriotic and non-profit group, COPIN conducted thorough investigations and uncovered that billions of Naira have been allocated to fuel this orchestrated campaign aimed at discrediting an honorable officer who is widely recognized as a “reformer,” “transformative,” and “welfarist” leader.

COPIN poses several crucial questions to the so-called Northern Group before they proceed with their planned actions:

  1. When in contemporary history has a serving Central Bank Governor declared interest in partisan politics, considering the significant challenges of monetary policy at hand?
  2. Should the public not question why the group’s benefactor has not denounced the extravagant branding of over one hundred luxurious vehicles in their name while the poor masses continue to struggle?
  3. How can these individuals, who do not represent the interests of Northern Nigeria, easily forget a heartless comment made during the naira redesign that implied indifference to the suffering of Nigerians?

As a responsible civil society organization (CSO), COPIN affirms that it will not permit any government institution to be ridiculed or undermined by discredited individuals using a fundamental human right that is not absolute.

COPIN emphasizes that Nigeria is governed by existing laws, and individuals and groups must uphold the principle of “presumption of regularity” when it comes to government agencies. The rule of law must be allowed to take its course.

In due time, COPIN pledges to utilize the law to reveal the true identities of those masquerading as the “Northern group,” who may indeed be enemies of the state, anti-masses, and driven by cash-and-recruit tendencies.

The group challenges the supposed Chairman of the Northern group, Adamu Musa, to disclose the location of their office and the identities of their members to Nigerians and the world.

COPIN concludes by advising the promoters of this ill-informed group to reconsider their planned protest, especially as no individual or group has a monopoly on violence.

In conclusion, COPIN reminds all involved that those seeking equity must come with clean hands, and a word should be sufficient for the wise.
