The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja,, presided over the official commissioning of a newly constructed Fire Station at Bonny Cantonment in Lagos. Emphasizing the importance of the Fire Station, the COAS highlighted its role in safeguarding lives and property within the cantonment while also serving as vital support for emergency response agencies.
In a parallel initiative, the COAS inaugurated 30 newly constructed blocks of flats designated for soldiers holding the rank of Corporal and below at 174 Battalion, Odogunyan Barracks, Ikorodu, Lagos State. He underscored that these housing projects were undertaken to enhance the well-being of the troops and their families.
In addition to the accommodation blocks, the COAS commissioned three renovated and remodeled 12-unit Corporal Below Quarters within the barracks. The ceremonies surrounding the housing projects were marked by jubilation from soldiers and their families, who expressed their gratitude for the improvements.



During the commissioning ceremony, General Lagbaja commended the exceptional quality of the work done and expressed confidence that these projects would endure over time.
Following the project inaugurations, the COAS addressed troops from the 81 Division, urging them to uphold the law and adhere to Lagos State regulations. He assured the troops that their welfare and that of their families would remain a top priority during his administration. Furthermore, he called on the troops to stay committed in the ongoing battle against insecurity within their respective areas of responsibility.


Major General Mohammed Usman, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division, had previously briefed the COAS on the security situation within the Division’s area of responsibility. He conveyed his appreciation for the COAS’s support and affirmed the Division’s unwavering commitment to the Nigerian Army’s mission, aligning with the COAS’s Command Philosophy.
