The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has vowed to eliminate bandit leaders terrorizing Nigeria’s Northwest.
During a Sallah celebration with troops of Operation Fansa Yamma in Sokoto over the weekend, General Oluyede declared the army’s determination to track down and destroy the bandits.
“We will fish them out, crush them, and send them back to their maker,” he warned.
General Oluyede praised the troops for their courage and commitment in fighting banditry and other criminal activities. He promised to continue providing them with logistics, training, and other necessary support to restore peace in the region.
He said, “Your commitment to duty inspires us all. You represent true patriotism by standing firm against threats to our nation’s peace and stability.”
Represented by Major General Adeleke Ayannuga, Commander of the Cyber Warfare Command, the COAS urged the soldiers to stay united, alert, and mission-focused. He reaffirmed the army’s strong commitment to the welfare of the troops and their families.
Also addressing the troops, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander of Sector Operation Fansa Yamma, praised the COAS for prioritizing troop welfare. He described the visit as both symbolic and motivating.
Ajose assured that soldiers deployed in Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, and Zamfara would continue to protect lives and property with the highest level of professionalism.
