The Chief Magistrate Court situated in Ikorodu has issued an order for Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, famously known as Mohbad, to be served notice regarding an impending DNA test application through substituted means.

This ruling, disclosed in a statement signed by a member of the legal team representing the Aloba family, Monisola Odumosu, and obtained by PUNCH Metro on Wednesday, marks a significant step in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the paternity of baby Liam.

The application, filed by the legal team representing Joseph Aloba, the deceased singer’s father, sought authorization to serve Wunmi by posting all legal documents related to the case at her last-known address. The team, led by Emmanuel Oroko, argued that previous attempts by the court sheriff to serve Wunmi had failed.

Odumosu emphasized, “If the process were served on the last-known address of the respondent by Order of the Court, it would constitute good service and she would be aware of the pending suit.” The Chief Magistrate acceded to the request, ordering that Wunmi be served by posting the court documents on her last known address.

This development stems from the Aloba family’s challenge to the paternity of baby Liam, for which they have petitioned the Family Court to mandate Wunmi to undergo a DNA test alongside the child at a recognized laboratory in Lagos.

Despite Wunmi’s previous affirmation in a viral video that she was prepared for a DNA test, she has reportedly eluded attempts by the court sheriff to serve her the originating motion.

However, Odumosu revealed that the case has been adjourned until next month for the report on the service of the court documents.

In response to these proceedings, Wunmi’s legal representative, Taiwo Olawanle, expressed unawareness of the court order, stating, “We don’t have the court order. If we have an order, we will advise her to adhere to it.”

Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music, owned by Naira Marley, passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023, under circumstances that stirred controversies on social media. His demise prompted the Lagos State Police Command to establish a 13-man special investigation team to probe the circumstances surrounding his death.

Furthermore, his death led to the arrest of Naira Marley and other notable figures, including controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry. Subsequently, on September 21, 2023, Mohbad’s remains were exhumed for autopsy, aimed at determining the cause of death
