In a resolute bid to dismantle the nefarious operations plaguing Nigeria’s oil sector, the troops of 6 Division Nigerian Army continue to clamp down on saboteurs in the South South region.

On August 23, 2023, as part of their unyielding anti-oil theft endeavors, troops acted upon credible intelligence to strike at the heart of an illegal oil refinery encroaching upon the vicinity of Ogbokoko and Atu in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu the Army Spokesman said the successful operation resulted in the obliteration of eight operational ovens that were being illicitly employed for refining pilfered crude oil.

He said the troops uncovered and dismantled 14 storage reservoirs harboring approximately 200,000 liters of purloined crude oil, along with an additional 90,000 liters of locally crafted Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

Nwachukwu said the audacious criminals behind this illicit enterprise swiftly dispersed at the sight of advancing troops, evading capture.

The illegal refining site, meticulously dismantled in line with the established protocols of Operation Delta Safe, serves as a stern reminder of the military’s unwavering commitment to combating economic malfeasance.

As investigations into the incident continue, authorities are actively pursuing the culprits who fled the scene. The public is earnestly encouraged to report any suspicious activities that might be connected to sabotage or criminality. Such vigilance will significantly bolster the ongoing operations aimed at thwarting acts of economic sabotage within the nation
