Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has issued a directive to halt night sting operations in all EFCC commands.

The decision came in response to the arrest of 69 suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State, by the EFCC’s Ibadan zonal command.

The announcement of this directive was made by the spokesperson for the anti-graft agency, Dele Oyewale, in a statement obtained by Punch Newspapers. Oyewale stated

, “The chairman gave the directive in Abuja on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, in reaction to the arrest of 69 suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State, by operatives of the Ibadan zonal command of the commission.”

He further added, “Many of the suspects who were duly profiled by the command have already been released, and the profiling of yet-to-be-released suspects will be expedited without any further delay. The commission assures the public of its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law in the execution of its mandate
