The Department of State Services (DSS) has pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the recent scuffle between its personnel and Prisons officials, which occurred at the Ikoyi Federal High Court in Lagos.

In a statement issued on July 26th, the DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, expressed that the incident was regrettable and did not reflect the professional ethos of the organization.

The DSS vehemently disavows and condemns the incident in question, making it clear that such behavior is not endorsed nor encouraged by the agency. The Service acknowledges and upholds the importance of the Judiciary as a fundamental arm and institution of the Government. It emphasizes its commitment to respecting the Judiciary’s role in nation-building, national development, and security management.

Additionally, the DSS acknowledges the significance of a strong and collaborative working relationship with sister security and law enforcement agencies, including the Nigeria Correctional Service. The agency is committed to maintaining a harmonious environment among all security organizations to better serve the nation and its citizens.
