The Senate has urged the Federal Government to take action to address the erosion gullies that are threatening homes and infrastructure in Edo Central Senatorial District.

The motion was sponsored by Senator Monday Okpebholo, who expressed concern that the erosion gullies were causing widespread damage to infrastructure, including roads, electricity, and government institutions. He also warned that if the situation was not arrested, more homes would be lost and people would be displaced.

The Senate directed the Committee on Environment, Ecology, Works, and Special Duties to urge the relevant ministries to come up with a durable and lasting work plan to arrest the devastation.

“The erosion gullies are a major threat to the people of Edo Central,” said Senator Okpebholo. “They are destroying homes, businesses, and infrastructure. We need the Federal Government to take action to stop this devastation.”

The Senate’s action is a welcome step, but it is important that the government follow through with its commitment to address the erosion gullies in Edo Central. The people of the district need to know that their government is taking their concerns seriously and that they are working to protect their homes and livelihoods.
