FGGC Sagamu Students Make Waves in Tech, Unveil Humanoid Robot ‘Kiki-Saggy’
SAGAMU, OGUN STATE – A group of brilliant and dedicated students at Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Sagamu, Ogun State, have achieved a remarkable feat in the field of technology, successfully designing and building a humanoid robot.
The robot, named “Okikiola-Sagamu” and affectionately nicknamed “Kiki-Saggy,” was recently unveiled, showcasing the innovative spirit and technical prowess of these young female innovators.
The project involved a dedicated team of students from various classes, who pooled their knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) under the guidance of their teachers.
Their creation, Kiki-Saggy, is described as a humanoid robot, designed with the aim of mimicking human form and potentially performing basic tasks or interactions.
This complex undertaking required skills ranging from conceptual design and circuitry to programming and construction.
The students dedicated significant time and effort to bring their vision to life, overcoming challenges through collaboration and perseverance.
The successful construction of Kiki-Saggy is being hailed as a significant milestone for FGGC Sagamu and for STEM education in Nigeria, particularly for young women.
It demonstrates the immense potential of Nigerian girls in traditionally male-dominated fields and highlights the importance of practical, hands-on learning experiences in schools.
School officials expressed immense pride in the students’ achievement, noting that it aligns with the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in all academic areas, especially STEM.
The students involved hope that their creation will inspire their peers and younger students to explore interests in robotics and other technological fields.
The unveiling of Okikiola-Sagamu marks a proud moment for the students, the school, and the community, signifying a bright future for technology and innovation driven by young Nigerian talent.
Further development of Kiki-Saggy’s capabilities is expected to be an ongoing project for the school’s robotics enthusiasts.
