“Fubara Not My Opponent,” Says Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied claims of a personal feud with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Describing Fubara as “his son” and insisted he had no reason to fight him.

In a Saturday interview, Wike dismissed rumors of a direct conflict. He clarified that his real issue lies with people allegedly manipulating Fubara for selfish interests. “That one is not a battle,” Wike said. “He is my boy, he is my son. Why will I fight with him?”

Wike, who once governed Rivers State, said he only challenges those trying to benefit from a system they did not build. “I’m fighting people who want to steal what they didn’t work for,” he added. “If you don’t defeat them, they’ll think they’re in charge.”

He claimed those individuals feel embarrassed now because they are losing power. According to Wike, these same people are pushing Fubara into conflict.

During a media chat, Wike revealed that Fubara has begun to seek reconciliation. “The President has called for peace many times,” Wike said. “I can’t ignore him and say I don’t want peace.”

Wike confirmed that Fubara visited with two governors and an elder statesman. However, he noted both governors belong to the APC.“I won’t pursue him,” Wike said. “If he wants peace, that’s fine. I also want peace.”
