The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has claimed that members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are defecting to the APC because their party is struggling to survive under the pressure of the ruling party’s performance.
While speaking at the APC National Summit held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, Ganduje credited the APC’s political skill for its expected victory in the upcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) election.
He pointed to the internal crisis and wave of defections within the PDP, saying, “The party is now gasping for breath, which is why many of its members are joining the APC.”
Ganduje highlighted the APC’s control of 22 out of the country’s 36 states and hinted that another governor plans to join the party soon.
He also noted that the APC had already begun preparing for the Anambra governorship election and other upcoming contests, following its success in the last off-cycle elections.
According to Ganduje, the APC’s victories in post-2023 elections signal what Nigerians should expect in the 2027 general elections.
