Hon. Umar Shehu Ajilo, representing Makarfi-Kudan Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, has urgently appealed to the Lower legislative arm of the National Assembly to address the escalating incidents of kidnapping and incessant killings in Makarfi-Kudan communities and surrounding areas.

In a motion titled, “Need to Stop the Kidnapping and Killings in Danguzuri, Gimi, Guibi, Dako, Randa, and Zage Zagi Communities in Makarfi-Kudan Federal Constituency of Kaduna State,” Hon. Umar Shehu Ajilo highlighted the fundamental rights of citizens to life and free movement as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.

He expressed deep concern over the alarming rate of kidnappings and attacks in Makarfi-Kudan Constituency, which has resulted in the tragic loss of lives, including prominent community members like Alhaji Musa Nafadi of Danguzuri, Alhaji Ado Dako of Dako village, and Alhaji Kurma.

The lawmaker further brought attention to recent kidnappings of four women and one girl in Gimi and Danguzuri wards of Makarfi Local Government Area within a week.

Hon. Umar Shehu Ajilo stressed that unless urgent measures are taken, this menace could spread to neighboring communities in Zaria, Katsina, and parts of Kano.

Cognizant of the primary responsibility of the government to safeguard the lives and properties of all citizens, Hon. Umar Shehu Ajilo called for decisive action. He urged the House to direct security agencies to halt the kidnappings and killings in Makarfi-Kudan Federal Constituency and ensure that the perpetrators face justice.

Additionally, he requested that the Committee on Police and Army (when constituted) take necessary steps to enforce the resolution.

The motion was adopted by the House and will be referred to the Committee once it is constituted.

In a conversation with journalists after the plenary, Hon. Shehu Ajilo stressed that his constituency is facing critical security challenges, making the motion a matter of urgent public importance. His appeal seeks to address the pressing concerns and protect the lives and well-being of the affected communities.
