The House of Representatives ad hoc committee, currently investigating job racketeering in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, has issued summonses to the former secretary of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and the IPPIS desk officer, Haruna Kolo. The summonses are in relation to allegations of missing documents concerning recruitment details and job racketeering.
Rep. Yusuf Gagdi, the ad hoc committee chairman, made the summon announcement in Abuja on Monday, stating that there was a factual petition against all agencies involved in job racketeering, where 10 percent collection was alleged.
Disturbed by the revelation that some documents related to the number of jobs from 2018 could not be found, the committee’s chairman demanded that the past commission secretary provide the missing copies.
Committee member, Rep. Wole Oke (PDP-Osun), expressed skepticism about the claim that the documents were not available, given the presence of both the FCC chairman and the secretary.
In response to the committee’s inquiry, FCC chairman, Farida Dankaka, stated that the commission had approval for jobs from the Head of Service of the Federation, and the recruitment process had commenced with 85 people already recruited. This contradicted her earlier claim that no recruitment had occurred from 2020 to date.
Regarding Haruna Kolo, alleged to be the FCC chairman’s personal assistant, Dankaka clarified that he was the IPPIS desk officer in their office, not her SA or PA. She also mentioned that her signature was forged to facilitate unauthorized job allocations.
In light of these discrepancies and the missing documents, the committee directed Mr. Kolo and the director of IPPIS to appear before the panel on August 4. Additionally, the committee plans to invite the former FCC secretary to provide details on the untraceable documents.
