House of Representatives Conducts Rigorous Screening of President Tinubu’s NDDC Nominees, Emphasizing Visionary Leadership and Integrity

The House of Representatives conducted a thorough screening of President Tinubu’s nominees for the Board and Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). This screening took place before the House Ad-hoc Committee, which was specifically tasked with this responsibility on a Thursday.

Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the Chairman of the House Committee on NDDC, delivered a passionate address while presenting the nominees. He urged the nominees to demonstrate their capability in justifying the trust placed in them by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He emphasized the critical need for visionary and integrity-driven leaders in the NDDC to fulfill the Commission’s mandate, translating it into tangible improvements in the lives of the people and communities in the Niger Delta.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Ali Isa, proposed a motion for the nominees to be accorded the customary respect of taking a bow. This gesture was in recognition of the Senate’s previous screening and confirmation of the nominees and the fact that some of the nominees have a history as former parliamentarians.

Additionally, Julius Inhovbere, the House Leader, charged the nominees with the significant responsibility of charting a new path for the vital interventionist agency. He emphasized the importance of fairness and justice in their dealings with all communities. He encouraged the nominees to be guided by a sense of duty towards God and a strong respect for the constitution as they carry out their responsibilities.

It is worth noting that President Bola Tinubu had formally requested the lower legislative chamber’s confirmation for these nominees to serve on the NDDC board. This request was presented on the floor of the House of Representatives during Tuesday’s plenary, presided over by Ben Kalu, the deputy speaker.
