The House of Representatives held a meeting with the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) regarding the abduction of eight Corps Members in Zamfara state, located in northern Nigeria.

Hon. Martins Esin, Chairman of the committee, emphasized the significance of the meeting due to the House’s concern about the situation.

The House sought information on the actions taken by the NYSC scheme to secure the release of the abducted corps members. He further stated that the House of Representatives is fully committed to supporting the NYSC scheme and expressed confidence that, with the ongoing efforts and collaborations, the kidnapped Corps Members would soon be reunited with their families.

Brig Gen Yusha’u Ahmed, the Director General of the NYSC, responded to the committee’s questions by affirming that the NYSC has been engaged in discussions with the kidnappers. He assured the House that the abducted Corps Members would be released soon.

As a resolution, the Committee determined that the NYSC management team should visit the families of the abducted corps members to convey empathy and support.
