The House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream has issued a summon to Mr. Hubb Stokman, the Managing Director of NNPC Retail Limited, to appear before the committee within seven days. The súmmons comes with a warning that failure to comply will result in the issuance of a warrant for Mr. Stockman’s arrest.

Chairman of the Committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream, Honorable Ikenga Ugochinyere, announced the summon order, emphasizing the urgency for Mr. Stokman to brief the committee’s leadership and provide updates on the acquisition of OVH by NNPC Retail Limited. The controversy surrounding this acquisition has prompted the committee’s intervention, spurred by a petition from a concerned section of the public.

Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere underscored the importance of the meeting in ensuring transparency and stability in the country. He stated that the committee had scheduled the meeting to allow Mr. Stockman to present relevant documents related to the OVH acquisition. However, Mr. Stokman’s failure to appear or communicate his absence raised concerns, leading to the issuance of the summons.

Citing the committee’s commitment to due process, Hon. Ikenga explained that the summons issued in accordance with the provisions of Order 19. The committee stressed the need for Mr. Stokman to respect the investigative process and bring the required documents to support ongoing inquiries.

Mr. Hubb Stokman is expected to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Downstream Petroleum on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 11 am. The committee anticipates a thorough and informative session, hoping to address the concerns raised by the public and shed light on the OVH acquisition matter.
