Humanitarian Affairs Receives N14.2bn to Facilitate Training for N-Power Beneficiaries

The Federal Executive Council has granted its approval for the nationwide implementation of the Employees Compensation Act (ECA) 2010. Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, made this announcement following a special council meeting held on Monday.

The Minister highlighted that the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) operates the ECA, which serves as a modernized replacement for the previous Employee Compensation Act.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, also shared positive news during the meeting. She stated that the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme has made significant strides in reducing the number of out-of-school children across the country.

Furthermore, the council approved a budget of N14.2 billion for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development. These funds will be allocated for the engagement of four federal agencies to provide training for non-graduate beneficiaries of the N-Power program.

In a separate development, Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, confirmed that Nigeria Air, the national carrier, will commence operations prior to May 29, coinciding with the handover to a new administration following President Muhammadu Buhari’s term.
