I’ll Keep Giving Tinubu’s Enemies High Blood Pressure – Wike Vows at Road Commissioning

Wike: I’ll Keep Giving Tinubu’s Enemies High Blood Pressure

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed to intensify the political discomfort of President Bola Tinubu’s critics by delivering more developmental projects under the current administration.

Wike made the controversial remark on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road 1 (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) in Katampe District, Abuja, an event graced by President Tinubu himself.

According to Wike, his commitment to high-impact infrastructural projects is not only a service to Nigerians but also a deliberate move to frustrate those who oppose the President’s leadership.

“I must make sure I continue to give them high blood pressure. As they continue to be in pain, it’ll be sweetening us, and that’s now my job,” Wike declared.

He recounted how a television broadcast made him aware of the bitterness some individuals allegedly feel towards Tinubu due to the administration’s achievements since taking office in 2023.

“Spiritually, I was touched. I turned on the TV and I saw how much pain some people are in because of the President’s good works. Now I know — and I’m not going to stop,” he said.

The minister, known for his bold and combative rhetoric, reiterated his loyalty to President Tinubu, framing his infrastructural drive as both public service and political strategy.

“I’ll be happy, moving around, and laughing every time, and they’ll be there shouting, fighting, and killing themselves. Mr President, thank you for being part of this revolution,” Wike added.

The event marked yet another high-profile commissioning in the FCT under Wike’s leadership, who has overseen an aggressive acceleration of infrastructure development in Nigeria’s capital since his appointment.

Wike’s remarks come amid heightened political tension over the President’s performance and the build-up to the 2027 general elections, with critics accusing the administration of failing to curb inflation, insecurity, and economic hardship.

Despite the controversies, Wike appears unshaken — turning criticism into what he describes as a “motivating force for delivery.”
