The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched a portal to recruit ad hoc staff for the 2023 off-cycle governorship elections.

The off-cycle elections are scheduled for November 11 in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo.

The ad hoc staff categories consist of supervisory presiding officers, presiding officers, assistant presiding officers, registration area technicians, and registration area centre managers.

In a notice released on Wednesday, the electoral authority announced that the application portal will be accessible from 8 am on August 31 and will close at 12 am on October 2.

“Are you ready to play a crucial role in the democratic process? The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) invites you to become an Ad-Hoc Staff for the upcoming off-cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States,“ the notice states.

“The Commission has approved the activation of INECPRES both the Mobile App for Android phones only and the web portal (laptops/desktops only), to this end the portal will be available to eligible applicants for registration of all categories of ad-hoc staff (SPO/PO/APO/RATECHs/RAC Managers) except the Collation officers.”

INEC has stated that applicants should not have membership in any political party and must refrain from demonstrating or expressing support for any candidate or political party, and applicants are expected to reside in the state they have chosen, with the exception of registration area technicians.

Applications can be made via the web address pres.inecnigeria.org or by downloading the INECPRES mobile android app via https://inecpres-app.com/pres-app.apk.
