The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has carried out a significant visit to Kwara State on November 24, 2023, with a focus on fortifying the ties between the police force and the local community. The visit aimed at emphasizing the importance of professionalism and fostering a people-friendly approach to policing.
As part of the visit, the IGP paid a courtesy call to the esteemed Emir of Kwara at his palace. Discussions during this meeting centered on mutual interests, with a particular focus on collaborative efforts to enhance safety and security in Kwara State. The IGP expressed gratitude for the continuous support of the Emir and acknowledged the vital role traditional leaders play in maintaining peace and order within their domains.



Following the courtesy call, the IGP proceeded to the Kwara State Police Command Headquarters, where he addressed officers and personnel of the Force. During his address, he underscored the significance of professionalism, adherence to ethical standards, and the imperative of adopting a people-friendly and law-abiding approach to policing. The IGP commended the officers for their dedication to duty and reminded them of the paramount importance of earning the trust and confidence of the communities they serve while maintaining high self-esteem in their careers.
In his lecture, the IGP highlighted the importance of community policing, urging officers to actively engage with the public to foster a collaborative effort in the fight against crime. He emphasized the need for respect for human rights and adherence to the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.
Additionally, the IGP met with the Executive Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, to discuss collaborative initiatives aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the state’s residents. The IGP commended the governor for his continuous support of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining law and order.

The Inspector General of Police expressed appreciation to the people of Kwara State for their warm reception and cooperation during his visit. He pledged that the Nigeria Police Force would work in synergy with local communities and government authorities to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
