NNPC Ltd Sees Growth in Crude Production Amid Security Successes
The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Mele Kyari, has urged the military to maintain its vigorous campaign against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, noting that these efforts have led to significant improvements in the country’s crude oil production.
Kyari made this appeal during a meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, who, along with senior military officers, paid a courtesy visit to the NNPC Towers in Abuja on Tuesday.

“I strongly advocate for continued and enhanced security measures. We have reached a new production peak, the highest in the last three years, thanks to the sustained efforts of the armed forces and other security agencies in safeguarding our critical assets, especially the pipeline infrastructure. The results of these efforts are evident in our increased production,” Kyari said.
He praised General Musa and his team for their unwavering dedication to protecting the nation’s vital hydrocarbon resources, particularly in the Niger Delta region, highlighting that these successes are critical not only for Nigeria but also for the global energy market.
Kyari expressed confidence that the CDS and his team would successfully fulfill the Presidential mandate to address security challenges impacting the nation’s crude oil output.
“The security aspects of this initiative are being expertly managed under your leadership. Your coordinated and focused approach is key to improving security engagement, especially in the Niger Delta,” he added.
In his remarks, General Musa explained that the visit was to introduce the Monitoring Team to NNPC Ltd. This team will be responsible for liaising with the company and other stakeholders in the oil-producing regions to secure Nigeria’s essential hydrocarbon infrastructure.
The CDS pledged continued commitment to enhancing security and improving the performance of his troops. He emphasized the military’s readiness to sustain its operations, assess troop capabilities, and boost productivity.
He also underscored the importance of increased production for economic prosperity and reassured collaboration with intelligence agencies, private security, state governments, and host communities to achieve better results.

“Working in silos won’t yield the best outcomes. I assure you that we will collaborate with all necessary stakeholders to meet our targets, as directed by Mr. President,” General Musa affirmed.
