Raises Concerns over LP’s Presidential Candidate’s Pre-Hearing Matter
The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Abayomi Arabambi has made serious allegations against Julius Abure, the party’s suspended National Chairman, accusing him of colluding with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and receiving a sum of 500 million Naira.
Arabambi voiced these claims during a press briefing, prompted by the circulation of online pictures showing Godswill Akpabio, the APC Senate Presidential candidate, together with Abure, Farouk Umar, Clement Ojukwu, and Oluchi Opara, all of whom were former Labour Party officials.
Arabambi further expressed concern over a ruling by a Federal High Court in Kano State that nullified all primary elections in Abia and Kano State, which may potentially lead to the loss of Alex Otti’s governor-elect seat. He attributed responsibility for this development to Abure.
Additionally, Arabambi raised suspicions regarding the inability of the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, to raise 1.5 million Naira to secure necessary documents from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the pre-hearing matter in their legal case against President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He suggested that this could be a deliberate tactic to hinder the party from presenting their case before the court and defending Obi’s mandate in the presidential election held in February.
Arabambi emphasized that the revelation by Professor Livy Uzuokwu, the lead counsel to Obi, regarding the financial constraint was deceptive and intended to prevent Nigerians from witnessing the party’s representation in the presidential election tribunal hearing.
He warned that failure to comply with the court’s directive on the pre-hearing matter could have a negative impact on Peter Obi’s case.
Arabambi concluded by stating that the LP must take appropriate action to avoid the dismissal of their petition due to failure to fulfill the necessary requirements within the specified timeframe.
