The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023 conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Nigerian Army Conference Centre in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

During the event, Lieutenant General Yahaya expressed that the establishment of the conference centre would alleviate the Nigerian Army’s burden of securing large spaces for meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars, and lectures.

He emphasized the importance of providing standard accommodation within the Federal Capital Territory. The COAS further stressed that achieving this vision relied on instilling a decisive psychological influence on personnel’s willingness to fight.

General Yahya pledged to allocate the necessary resources to ensure the timely completion of the project, recognizing the significance of welfare in boosting morale.

In his address, Major General Shamsideen Shafaru, the Coordinator of Nigerian Army Special Projects, outlined the components of the project, which include an auditorium, conference centre, banquet hall, and hotel, among other facilities.

The state-of-the-art structure, situated at Lungi Barracks in Asokoro, will encompass a 1,000-seat auditorium and banquet hall, a 500-seat conference hall, and an 80-room hotel accommodation.

The construction of the Nigerian Army Conference Centre marks a significant step toward providing the army with modern and dedicated facilities for various events and accommodations.

It showcases the commitment to enhancing the welfare of personnel and ensuring their effectiveness in defending the nation.
