The Nigerian military has recorded remarkable successes in its operations over the past year, according to an update by General Buba.
Since the start of the year, aggressive military actions across various theaters of operation have resulted in the neutralization of 8,034 terrorists, the arrest of 11,623 suspects, and the rescue of 6,376 hostages. These efforts were complemented by the recovery of 8,216 weapons and 211,459 rounds of ammunition, while oil theft worth over ₦57 billion was disrupted.
Weaponry Breakdown
Recovered arms include:
- 4,053 AK-47 rifles
- 1,123 locally fabricated guns
- 731 dane guns
- 240 pump-action guns
Additionally, troops secured: - 120,247 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
- 41,515 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition
- 5,373 cartridges
- Various other arms and munitions.
Anti-Oil Theft Successes
The military’s fight against economic sabotage led to the recovery of:
- 53.1 million liters of stolen crude oil
- 9.18 million liters of illegally refined AGO (diesel)
- 90,595 liters of DPK (kerosene)
- 156,095 liters of PMS (petrol)
Sustained Operations
General Buba highlighted the military’s resolve to sustain pressure on terrorists and criminal networks across Nigeria. “The armed forces are committed to creating a secure environment where terrorists cannot operate,” he stated.
He assured the public that ongoing operations are on track to ensure national security, with a focus on improving effectiveness and maintaining an upward trajectory toward total victory.
