The Nigerian military announced yesterday the capture of Bako Wurgi, a terror leader linked to the assassination of a monarch in Sokoto State.
Wurgi, a close associate of the notorious terrorist Bello Turji, was apprehended during an operation and later succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained in a firefight.
According to a statement by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Wurgi provided valuable intelligence before his death, significantly aiding the military’s ongoing anti-terror efforts.
Troops remain on high alert, particularly during the yuletide season, with robust operations targeting terrorist leadership across all theatres.
In related operations, two other high-profile terrorists, Hamisu Sale (aka Master) and Abubakar Muhammad, were arrested in the North-Central theatre and are cooperating with authorities by providing critical information on their terror network.
