Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have achieved a major victory against terrorism, neutralising three terrorists, including the son of the infamous terror leader Bello Turji, during a decisive operation in the Fakai high ground. The coordinated mission also led to the arrest of three suspected collaborators.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, confirmed in a statement that the operation, conducted in collaboration with the air component, targeted strategic terrorist locations along the Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axes. The military’s superior firepower inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists and dismantled their logistics hub.

The operation also freed several hostages held by Turji’s group. General Buba disclosed that, in the face of the intense military offensive, Bello Turji abandoned his son and his combatants, fleeing the scene.

In a related operation, troops destroyed a terrorist hideout known as the Idi Mallam camp in the Zango Kagara Forest. The raid resulted in the recovery of substantial weaponry, including two machine guns, an AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, as well as 61 rustled cattle and 44 sheep.

The military remains relentless in its pursuit of terrorist elements, reaffirming its commitment to securing the lives and properties of all Nigerians.
