Over the past week, military operations in various parts of the country have led to substantial achievements, including the neutralization of 67 terrorists, the apprehension of 190 suspects, and the successful rescue of 47 kidnap victims. Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations at Defence Headquarters in Abuja, shared these outcomes in a statement on Friday.
Maj-Gen. Buba also highlighted the arrest of 57 individuals involved in oil theft and the rescue of 47 kidnapped hostages, among other accomplishments. He emphasized that the troops have maintained their aggressive stance in ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations nationwide. These operations have encompassed fighting patrols, ambushes, raids, and air interdictions.
The past week’s operations resulted in the neutralization of 67 terrorists and the arrest of 190 individuals. Additionally, troops detained 57 suspects involved in oil theft and rescued 47 kidnapped hostages. Notably, in the South-South region, troops thwarted oil theft amounting to an estimated sum of N727,786,800.00.
Furthermore, the military recovered a significant cache of weaponry and ammunition, including various rifles, pistols, ammunition rounds, magazines, and other equipment. The detailed breakdown of seized items includes a wide array of weapons, ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles, communication devices, and other materials.
In the Niger Delta area, troops discovered and demolished 106 dugout pits, 111 boats, 229 storage tanks, 290 cooking ovens, 8 pumping machines, 10 outboard engines, 2 speedboats, one vessel, and 96 illegal refining sites. They also recovered a substantial amount of stolen crude oil and illegally refined AGO (Automotive Gas Oil), as well as DPK (Dual Purpose Kerosene).
Maj-Gen. Buba reiterated the military’s commitment to preventing terrorists, insurgents, and violent extremists from achieving their objectives. He emphasized that the ongoing battle against these threats will persist until they are defeated or choose to surrender.
