The Network Against Child Trafficking Abuse and Labour NACTAL has Commended the Federal Government of Nigeria for approving the National Action Plan on Human Trafficking as a roadmap to combat the crime in Nigeria.
This was part of the resolutions made at the end of 3-day workshop held in Keffi Nasarawa with 25 civil society organizations under the aegis of NACTAL.


The workshop witnessed extensive technical and plenary sessions to re-align the four years NACTAL strategic plan (2020-2024) with the Nigerian Government National Action plan on human trafficking (2022-2026)
The technical sessions consist of 7 thematic working groups which include:
Prevention
Protection and assistance
Research and Assessment
Prosecution, law enforcement and access to justice
Gender equality and social inclusion on TIP
Monitoring and Evaluation Data Management and statistics
Partnership and coordination
The workshop agreed that the National Action Plan as designed speaks to Nigeria’s current Trafficking in Persons (TIPs) challenges. Thus, NACTAL effectively reviewed its Strategic plan and aligned same with the National Action Plan.

The workshop further engaged in constructive deliberations and came up with the following recommendations:
Implored all state and non-state actors to ensure all their interventions are tailored towards achieving the content of the NAP.
Donor agencies were also admonished to support the implementation of the NAP as a veritable tool to combatting the menace of human trafficking in Nigeria.
The communique called on all Member Organisations of NACTAL to adopt the newly reviewed Strategic Plan and implement their activities accordingly Nationwide. d) That donors and government collaborators should be solicited to enhance the capacity of NACTAL members for effective implementation of counter-trafficking activities contained in the strategic plan.


In conclusion, the participants unanimously commended the existing cordial relationship between the leadership of NAPTIP and the NACTAL and called for sustenance of the relationship to engender effective support to victims of human trafficking, appreciating the support of FIIAPP and its funder, the European Union for providing funding support for the workshop and other numerous interventions to NACTAL. Consequently, participants called on FIIAPP to ensure the completion of remaining process of the realignment of the Strategic Plan. In the same light, participants acknowledged the invaluable support of its other key and strategic partners such as National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, USAID-SCALE Palladium, Expertise France, United Nation Organisation on Drug and Crime (UNODC) and International Organisation on Migration (IOM), which has, enhance the effectiveness of the
