A MI-171 Helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force was involved in an unfortunate incident On the 14th of August, 2023.
The helicopter, which was on a mission to evacuate casualties, crashed at approximately 1:00 pm in close proximity to Chukuba Village situated in Niger State.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the official spokesperson for the Air Force, reported that the aircraft had initially taken off from Zungeru Primary School with its destination set for Kaduna.
However, it was later discovered that the helicopter had crashed near Chukuba Village, which falls within the jurisdiction of the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
Rescue operations are currently in progress to aid the crew and passengers who were aboard the helicopter at the time of the crash.
Additionally, preliminary investigations have already commenced with the aim of determining the likely cause behind this tragic incident.
