The National President of the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) Architect (Mrs) Rakiya Abubakar, visited the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, at the Headquarters NAF (HQ NAF), Abuja, on August 2, 2023.

The Air Force Spokesman said during her courtesy visit, Mrs. Abubakar sought to strengthen the collaboration and support between NAFOWA and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in key areas such as education, women and youth empowerment, healthcare, and poverty alleviation, all aligned with NAFOWA’s motto of “Service to Humanity.”

Accompanied by fellow members of NAFOWA, Mrs. Abubakar expressed gratitude to CAS for the ongoing support and encouragement. She affirmed the association’s dedication and readiness to contribute significantly to the success of the Service. Commending CAS for his recent appointment, promotion, and decoration as Air Marshal, Mrs. Abubakar highlighted the purpose of their visit: to reinforce the strong bond between NAF and NAFOWA and to emphasize the association’s steadfast loyalty and support to NAF.

Mrs. Abubakar emphasized NAFOWA’s primary objective of enhancing the welfare and wellbeing of its members, children, and the less privileged through education and skill acquisition programs. She also appealed to NAF for assistance in establishing necessary infrastructure for the newly founded NAFOWA Secondary School and NAFOWA Little Angels facility in Asokoro, Abuja.
CAS commended NAFOWA members, describing them as pillars of strength, unsung heroes, and a source of inspiration to their families. He acknowledged NAFOWA’s substantial contributions to the educational sector through NAFOWA Little Angels Schools and vocational centers. CAS highlighted the impact of skill acquisition and empowerment initiatives, benefiting over 300 dependents in the past year alone, offering training in catering, event decoration, soap making, embroidery, and tailoring.

While acknowledging challenges arising from frequent postings and relocations of their spouses, Air Marshal Abubakar encouraged NAFOWA members to draw strength from their unity. He stressed the unparalleled strength and support that emerges when women unite under a common purpose. CAS urged them to continue serving as a network of support and a beacon of hope for those facing difficulties.
