The President of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association and wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Mrs. Salamatu Faruk Yahaya recently met with the wives of soldiers under the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA) to interact with them and identify areas where (NAOWA) can intervene and provide support to NASWA.

The meeting which was convened in the spirit of Easter and Sallah seasons aims at fostering unity and social interaction.

Public Health Consultant and Member NAOWA Medical committee Dr. Juliette Ango was on hand to educate the women on hygienic living.

Mrs. Yahaya also met and interacted with NASWA members from the Army headquarters Garrison where she gave them an insight into the efforts emplaced by NAOWA to empower and support barrack women and youths by providing them with skills and starter packs to enable them become self-reliant.

The soldiers’ wives also got the opportunity to raise several requests and concerns related to their wellbeing, accommodation and welfare.

Mrs. Yahaya promised that NAOWA would continue to do its best to address their concerns and also empower women and youths.

She urged the women to instill a high level of discipline in their children to enable them to become better citizens.

 The meeting was a great opportunity for Mrs. Yahaya to connect with the soldiers’ wives and show her support for their wellbeing.
