The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is gearing up to showcase the significant strides achieved in advancing indigenous content within the telecommunications sector at the second edition of the Nigerian Telecommunications Indigenous Content Expo (NTICE 2023). Scheduled to take place from August 22 to 24, 2023, at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, the expo will serve as a platform to demonstrate the Commission’s dedication to promoting local innovation.
Themed “Harnessing Indigenous Content for Economic Growth: Networking to Boost Investment,” the event is poised to bring together stakeholders for a successful engagement, building upon the accomplishments of the maiden edition held the previous year.
Coordinated by the Commission’s Nigeria Office for Developing the Indigenous Telecom Sector (NODITS), which oversees the execution of the National Policy on the Promotion and Implementation of Indigenous Contents in the Telecommunications Sector (NPPIC), NTICE aims to unite indigenous telecom operators, manufacturers, regulators, government agencies, policymakers, innovators, industry leaders, startups, and other telecom ecosystem contributors. The platform will facilitate the display of products, services, innovations, and emerging technologies.
Aligned with the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) of 2003, the NCC’s role encompasses stimulating investments, encouraging innovative practices, and advocating for Nigerian participation in the telecommunications industry’s management, ownership, and control, including the development of related manufacturing and supply sectors.
NTICE 2023 adheres to the NCA’s provisions and seeks to advance the NPPIC’s four focal areas: Manufacturing, Service, People, and Research and Development. These efforts align with the Federal Government’s push for economic diversification.
NTICE serves as a unique convergence of stakeholders, providing a platform for sharing diverse perspectives aimed at advancing the use of indigenous content within Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.
To attend the event, prospective participants must complete mandatory formal registration by August 22, 2023. The Commission has established the link www.ntice.ncc.gov.ng for this purpose, urging intending attendees to register ahead of the event.
Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, emphasized that NTICE stands as Nigeria’s premier annual event for indigenous telecommunications, technology, startups, manufacturing, and innovation. It facilitates impactful connections and valuable relationships that underscore the achievements and vast potential of a technology-driven digital economy.
The forthcoming 2023 Expo aims to spotlight the government’s accomplishments in fostering indigenous content within the sector while offering a stage for participants to present their products, services, inventive solutions, and emerging technologies.
