The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has adorned 38 recently promoted senior officers with prestigious new ranks, including 22 Air Vice Marshals (AVMs) and 16 Air Commodores. The decorated officers received a clear directive to address the nation’s security challenges.
The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru, who was represented by the Minister of State for Defence urged the newly promoted officers to employ innovative strategies in tackling the persistent security threats facing the nation.
Badaru underscored the importance of a comprehensive reassessment of military strategies, techniques, tactics, and procedures to effectively counter the dynamic security landscape. He issued a compelling call for the officers to leverage their wealth of knowledge, wisdom, ingenuity, and critical thinking capabilities acquired throughout their careers.
The Minister further tasked military leaders with the responsibility of elevating the Nigerian Air Force to higher standards. He emphasized the need for them to contribute actively to the collective pursuit of a peaceful and more prosperous Nigeria.
Earlier In his speech, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, urged the officers to demonstrate exceptional integrity and a steadfast commitment to excellence. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the Air Force achieves outstanding results in all facets of its operations.
Among the decorated officers is the Director public relations and information Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet who expressed his thoughts about the responsibility that comes with the new rank.
Amidst ongoing security concerns, the elevation of these senior officers is perceived as a strategic move to infuse fresh perspectives and effective leadership into the Nigerian Air Force. The expectation is that their collective expertise and experience will significantly contribute to the country’s ongoing efforts to enhance security and foster stability.
