The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted its annual 10km Walk/Jog event for the year 2023 In pursuit of optimal physical fitness and mental alertness essential for operational readiness and efficiency, This event took place in Abuja had in attendance various NAF units across the nation.

Following the conclusion of the exercise in Abuja, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), lauded the participants for their remarkable fitness levels. He emphasized that the safety of lives and property, a responsibility entrusted to the Armed Forces, hinges on the physical fitness and mental alertness of its members.

Additionally, the CAS highlighted the event’s role in fostering harmonious relationships among NAF personnel and their families, as well as serving as a talent discovery platform for the upcoming 2024 Armed Forces Games.

The CAS underscored the significance of regular exercise for military personnel, as it prepares them for the physical demands of their roles. According to him, the NAF personnel must maintain a high level of physical and mental readiness, whether deployed in an operating theater or performing routine duties. The success and competence of the NAF directly correlate with the physical, mental, and intellectual well-being of its airmen and airwomen, which are crucial for achieving the organization’s overall objectives.

Furthermore, Air Marshal Abubakar drew attention to the prevailing security challenges confronting the nation. He assured that the NAF, in collaboration with other security agencies, is dedicated to minimizing criminal activities and the freedom of movement for criminals.

The CAS highlighted the substantial enhancement of the NAF’s Order of Battle, which recently received additional DA-62 surveillance aircraft and T-129 ATAK helicopters. With these new assets and the renewed dedication under his leadership, he pledged the NAF’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the various security challenges facing the nation.

The CAS also used the opportunity to commend the NAF volleyball teams, both male and female, for their promotion to the elite Division One and Premiere League in the Nigerian National Volleyball League. He specifically acknowledged the exceptional performances of two Air Craft Women, Bulus Faith and Abba A, who earned recognition as the best spiker and best server, respectively, during the Nigerian National Volleyball League Division One.

Additionally, he applauded NAF personnel participating in the World Military Wrestling Game in Azerbaijan 2023, the NAF Football Team competing in the Nigerian National League, and the Female Basketball Team qualifying to represent the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the World Military Games.

The CAS expressed pride in the NAF’s personnel and its commitment to providing a supportive environment for the development of sporting activities in its various bases.
