The Nigerian Army says it is committed to supporting the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) in its mission to provide relief to those in need and contribute it quota in making the society a better place.

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff made this pledge at the Army Headquarters Abuja, when he received a delegation of NAOWA Executive Committee led by the President of NAOWA and wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja.

The Army Chief, Lagbaja expressed gratitude to the national leadership and members of NAOWA for their visit, acknowledging that their numerous humanitarian efforts have positively impacted the lives of many less privileged individuals in barracks, host communities, and society at large.

He commended NAOWA’s significant contributions through various developmental initiatives within the barracks and surrounding communities.

Lagbaja highlighted that NAOWA has become a symbol of peace, unity, and service, providing support to its members, empowering soldiers’ wives and families, aiding host communities, and benefiting society as a whole.

While applauding the members of NAOWA for their dedication to maintaining the home front as their spouses serve the nation, the COAS encouraged them to continue their humanitarian work, just as he assured NAOWA, that the Nigerian Army would continually interven and support the organization’s humanitarian activities.

Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja, the President, NAOWA in her remarks expressed her organization’s appreciation for the Nigerian Army’s steadfast support and sought to strengthen the existing relationship between NAOWA and the NA.

Emphasizing her vision, she underscored NAOWA’s commitment to improving the living standards of its members, members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA), host communities, and the less privileged through compassion-driven initiatives. Mrs. Lagbaja noted that NAOWA provides support to widows, orphans, and the less privileged both within and outside the barracks community.

The President assured General Lagbaja of NAOWA’s loyalty and support, saying that the organization would continue to keep the home front secure for their spouses while they diligently serve the nation.
