The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba has been honored with the prestigious Grand Defender of Democracy award by the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Good Governance on Thursday, 30th March 2023, at the IGP Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The coalition, which comprises leaders of 37 pro-democracy and civil society organizations, recognized the IGP’s giant strides since he assumed leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
The coalition applauded the IGP’s effective leadership qualities, which have led to unprecedented improvements in the Nigeria Police Force.
They noted the IGP’s significant achievements in the areas of human rights compliance, discipline, welfare, infrastructural transformation, and ensuring a decent and secure electoral process in Nigeria.
During the solidarity visit to the Louis Edet House, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Femi Lawson, expressed satisfaction with recent policing strategies and improved human relations. He also commended the IGP’s sterling leadership qualities, which have brought about a remarkable transformation in the Nigeria Police Force.
The IGP expressed his appreciation to the coalition for the honor bestowed on him. He acknowledged their respective efforts towards deepening democracy in the country and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to continuous improvement of security networking and ensuring the general safety of the country.
