The National Judicial Council (NJC) has put forth recommendations for the appointment of 11 justices to the Supreme Court bench, according to a statement released by the NJC’s Director of Information, Soji Oye, on Wednesday.
Oye stated that the swearing-in of the recommended candidates to the Supreme Court will occur following the approval of their recommendation by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and confirmation by the Senate. Additionally, the heads of various courts recommended by the NJC will be sworn in upon approval by their respective state governors and subsequent confirmation by their state Houses of Assembly.
The statement outlined the list of successful candidates for various positions as heads of courts and other judicial officers for the Federal and State Courts in Nigeria. The recommended appointments include:
